Success Stories

Every story we receive from our clients have a common theme
it’s not just about running, it’s about finding time for self-care and rediscovering yourself.

I began with BOTR at 60 in Jan 2023, never having run, not really knowing how to.
Six months on I am getting ready to run the City To Surf!
The BOTR program is so empowering, doing what I never thought I could do!
Each step is achieveable , and before you know it you can run for 30 minutes straight!
A wonderful benefit to running has been my increased body strength and reduced joint pain.

Since starting to run with BOTR I have achieved not only the finish of the city2surf but also the half marathon which I could not have done without the support of all the run leaders. Through BOTR I have fun new friends and run companions and a passion to support my mental health which I am forever grateful for.

And MEL as a leader of this organisation you just rock in all the volunteer work you do and what you give back to the communities. I am looking forward to running many years with the BOTR team.

I signed up to Boobs on the Run because I wanted to improve my fitness and make some new friends.

I got all that and so much more. Three years on and I’m more fit than I’ve ever been, I’m part of a wonderful supportive community of friends, and I’ve discovered the amazing benefits in mental well-being that running can provide. What Mel has created with Boobs on the Run is truly life-changing. Running makes me happy!

I joined BOTR as part of my recovery from Bowel Cancer. I’ve always been active and walked everywhere, however I could never get myself to that next level, running.
The exercise physiologist at Concord Cancer Centre told me all about Mel and BOTR and what an inspiring and amazing person she is. She recommended BOTR as part of my recovery.
I turned up to Get Running and felt sick, before I knew it 10 weeks had passed and I was running for 30 minutes. That 30 minutes changed my view on running and my exercise regime. It inspired me to join Stay Running and another 10 weeks 7 kms clocked up!
Well what else could I do but Keep Running and I look  forward to every Tuesday night with a great group of ladies, no pressure, no competition, no pretentiousness just chatty runs and lots of laughs with an awesome run coach Lesley.
Mel and her run coaches are legends, especially Ally, Lesley and Joy-Ann they have all been the best inspiration.
If you’re looking for an inclusive and inspiring bunch of people to get fit with I couldn’t recommend one better than BOTR. If I can run anyone can, it’s such a sense of freedom.
Thankyou Mel for all your Charity raising, hard work and generosity. It’s been such a pleasure to be part of BOTR I couldn’t imagine life without all of you legends.

At 44, following a radical hysterectomy which resulted in surgical menopause I was eager to ensure that I could look after my heart and bone health which is impacted by menopause. I have been a gym goer and personal trainer devotee at different times of my life but a busy schedule meant that I wanted to undertake a new form of exercise that was time efficient and independent.  So, running it was.  I found BoTR by accident via social media.  I signed up for a Get Running program at the start of 2020 and during the first meet and greet session I met the ‘face of approachable running’, Ally MacDonald.  I have now just started my 4th program with BoTR and Ally is still my run leader.  I am now ‘a runner’.  I run for my mental and physical health and for the fabulous women I have met during your running programs.  I have taken advantage of BoTR partners (iMove and Running Science) to keep me running safely and I schedule my life around my early morning group and homework runs with my ‘girls’. The wonderful, authentic, generous and supportive women who have become such an important part of my life.  Thank you for starting your wonderful program.  Attached is a photo of two of my running friends who I met through that first program.  I have permission to share this photo as we all feel exactly the same way about BoTR (Meischak, Kim and Caroline.).  Thank you!

Training with Boobs has turned my running routine from a chore to something I look forward to each week. The support and encouragement from the amazing run leaders helped me through my first half marathon, something I never thought I’d achieve. Now I’m looking at doing another one and am even looking forward to it. I’ve met amazing women through Boobs and love our “chatty runs”, a brilliant community to be a part of.

I joined Boobs On The Run about 18 months ago. Prior to this, I walked a lot but certainly didn’t run. I signed up to Get Running as part of a decision I made to improve my fitness and each week, I did my group and homework runs and was surprised that by the end of the course I could run for 30 minutes non-stop. To say I was proud of myself was an understatement.

I went on to complete Stay Running and now I’m a regular in the Keep Running course. I’ve now completed a couple of events such as The Mother’s Day Classic, the Harbour Run, City2Surf and the Blackmores Bridge Run – and this year I’ve completed two half marathons…with another coming up in a couple of weeks.

The coaches from Boobs On The Run are truly supportive and encouraging and I couldn’t have come this far without them. Through this program, I’ve met so many wonderful ladies and I’m thrilled to have formed close friendships with a couple of them.

I’m proud of what I have achieved. Not that long ago I couldn’t run 1 minute without stopping and now running is such an important part of my life. It makes me feel fit and healthy, it’s my best mood booster and it sets a good example for my children about what it is to be healthy, active and outdoors.

I love this group and i’d recommend it to anyone looking to get fit in a run, friendly and supportive environment.

Get, Stay and Keep Running - Iron Cove

It took me a couple of months to finally commit to the get running course with Boobs on the Run. I kept thinking there is no way I could do that. I have now completed the Get Running course and the Stay Running course! I have met some wonderful ladies and now cannot imagine not being part of a running group. Thank you Boobs on the Run!!

Get and Stay Running - Iron Cove

I have always wanted to become a runner and learn to enjoy running. I have always tried in the past to get into running but have only ever done it on my own with no support and training and as a consequence have always given up thinking I hate running and can’t do it.

Recently my husband was encouraging me to start running again and I stared at the interval training he had printed out and stuck on the fridge knowing I wasn’t keen. I then saw a business post for Boobs on the Run and was suddenly interested to start running again but with support.

I joined get running incredibly nervous that I would not be able to keep up or handle the pace. Far from it! I followed the programme and slowly built up to the 30 minute run at the end. I have loved getting to know my running team and actually look forward to Thursday nights when we all go running together.

I have now joined Stay Running and am pleased with my progress. I feel so invigorated and alive after my runs and enjoy making time to get out of the house and have some “me time” when I go running.

Thanks Melanie and Boobs on the Run
